VACANCIES
Lagos State Government as part of its effort to render effective services in the areas of Infrastructure, Environmental facelift, adequate Road Network and Transportation, as well as human capacity building, requires the Services of qualified, experienced manpower to enhance the value of the State Public Service.
To this end, applications are required from result-oriented candidates to fill the following Positions from Grade Level 08 – 13.
1. ARCHITECTS
The person will be responsible for undertaking architectural design of all government buildings and other architectural projects.
Responsibilities:
· Supervising building work being executed for the government to ensure conformity with the architectural designs of the buildings.
· Preparing perspective drawings, sketches and models to illustrate works of importance to be undertaken.
Qualification:
Applicants must possess B Sc. degree in architecture from a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification registerable with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Applicants applying for grade levels 12 and 13 must have registered with the ARCON.
2. QUANTITY SURVEYORS
Responsibilities:
· Prepare estimates, bills of quantity and schedules of materials for construction of buildings.
· Measuring sites and locations.
Qualification:
Applicants must possess a degree or its equivalent in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution and must be registrable with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyor (NIQS). Applicants applying for grade levels12 and 13 must have registered with NIQS.
3. ENGINEERS (mechanical, civil, structural and electrical)
Responsibilities:
· Prepare mechanical engineering designs,
· Maintain and operate machinery and plants in the workshops and on sites.
· Prepare structural engineering designs of steel, concrete and pre-stressed concrete.
· Assist in preparing codes and standard of practice.
· Carrying out tests on highway materials.
· Carrying out preliminary surveys and investigation on all types of civil engineering activities.
· Inspecting projects under construction.
· Assisting in inspecting and testing rural electrification projects.
· Inspecting private generating plants and directing scouting for unauthorized installations.
· Supervising electrical installations and their maintenance in public buildings.
Qualification:
Applicants for engineering positions must possess a degree in engineering or its equivalence from a recognized institution and must be registrable with the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN). Applicants applying for Grade Levels 12 and 13 must have registered with (COREN).
4. TOWN PLANNERS
Responsibilities:
· Collecting field information for Town Planning purposes.
· Undertaking investigation of sites for government projects and other public schemes and uses.
· Assisting in conducting planning research.
· Preparing social or economic surveys necessary for Town Planning purposes.
Qualification:
Applicants must possess a degree in Urban and Regional Planning or Town Planning or its equivalent qualification registrable with the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC). Applicants applying for grade levels 12 and 13 must have registered with TOPREC.
5. LAND SURVEYORS:
Responsibilities:
· Supervising field party on cadastral control, engineering or boundary surveys.
· Undertaking boundary surveys including the demarcation and maintenance of inter-state and international boundaries
· Carrying out geodetic control surveys including triangulation, trilateration, geodetic positioning by satellite techniques and computations, including computer data processing.
· Establishing coastal and other controls for the monitoring of seacoasts and erosion sites.
Qualification:
Applicants must possess a degree in land surveying, survey engineering, geodetic science or geodetic engineering from recognized institution or any other equivalent qualification registrable with the Surveyor’s Registration Council of Nigeria (SURCON). Applicants applying for Grade Levels 12 and 13 must have registered with SURCON.
Experience
All applicants for grade levels 08, 09, and 10 must have 1 year, 3 years, and 6 years post qualification cognate experience, respectively. A post graduate degree will be an added advantage. However, all applicants for grade levels 12 and 13 are expected to have a minimum of 9years experience plus their professional bodies registration certificates.

ii. Appointment is normally on probation which may be confirmed after two (2) years of satisfactory services. The posts are pensionable.
